Keep Our Children Safe at School

As the Mayor of Boston, I will push to make Boston the example of innovation, emerging technologies, and fresh ideas in student, faculty, and staff protection.

I will want Boston to be a national pilot city for the program to go nationally to protect our schoolchildren.

I will fight for legislation to give Boston Public Schools federally tactically trained armed school guards. Guards trained by federal agents in counterterrorism tactics.

We would not replace the Boston School Police.

The armed guards are strictly for school defense. There is no student discipline or any role other than protection for students. The number of guards per school is decided by security experts. Boston, we need this discussion.

We need all schoolroom doors to be bullet resistant and have special deadbolts to secure students in classrooms. 

If the government has not shown they give a damn about slaughtered school children, faculty, and staff.

I support arming all school staff who choose to be specially trained to carry a weapon.

Too many times, school shootings have seen disgustingly poor and cowardly local police responses. Officers who froze or were afraid to respond to active shooters murdering unarmed children, faculty, and staff.

Boston will be proactive in the protection of our most precious assets. We must not be the parents and loved ones standing at the gravesites of slaughtered students, asking why!!

Prayers for the dead from our elected leaders who do not lead are not acceptable.
